Our Culture
Welcome to the Auburn-Washburn School District! We are proud to serve nearly 6,000 students across 128 square miles in southwest Topeka – the state's Capital City – and Shawnee County. Auburn-Washburn is an exceptional place to learn and work because of our engaged patrons and business partners, informed and supportive families, dedicated and talented staff, and, most importantly, outstanding students who arrive each day ready to learn and grow.
Our decisions are always guided by one priority: what is best for students. This focus has helped Auburn-Washburn earn a reputation as a respected, high performing, 6A district. Our students thrive academically and benefit from a wide range of co-curricular, performing and fine arts, and athletic opportunities. They consistently perform and compete at high levels locally, statewide, and nationally.
We do not view our nearly 6,000 students as a whole, but rather focus on the strengths, needs, and aspirations of every child, every day. Our district includes seven K-5 elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. We also have an early childhood program and two alternative learning centers.
Across all schools and programs, we prioritize building genuine, supportive relationships with students and families. With those relationships at the core, we are able to deliver rigorous academics, foster essential skills, and prepare every learner for success in school and beyond.
